Fast, funny and very loud. Illumination's monster romp is a crowd-pleaser for older kids — but the near-constant chaos and big scary creatures can overwhelm the youngest.

What parents need to know

  • Frequent cartoon-slapstick violence — characters are chased, thrown, flattened and zapped throughout.
  • Many large monsters threaten the Minions and cause loads of property destruction; genuinely intense for very young or sensitive kids.
  • Some mild language, yelling and arguments; rude and mildly macabre humor.
  • No sexual content or nudity. No substance use.

What's the story?

Gru's yellow Minions set out to find real monsters to star in their own creature feature — and unleash chaos when the monsters turn out bigger, louder and harder to wrangle than they bargained for. Directed by Pierre Coffin.

Is it any good?

Reviewers were pleasantly surprised — it lands sharper laughs than the last few Minions outings (a strong critical reception to match). But 'PG' here is doing real work: this is a wall-to-wall slapstick monster movie. The action rarely lets up, and several sequences feature large creatures menacing the Minions. Nothing is realistic or gory, yet the sheer volume and intensity can be a lot for under-6s. It's a great time for kids 7–12 who like their comedy chaotic.
