Privacy Policy

The short version: We collect the bare minimum needed to run the community. We never sell your data. There are no third-party advertising trackers on FamScoop. Anonymous posts stay anonymous to other users, though our backend still knows who wrote them for safety.

What we collect

• Your email address and a hashed (one-way encrypted) password.
• The username and display name you choose.
• The kid age ranges and interests you tell us about during onboarding (used only to personalize your feed; never sold).
• Posts, replies, and reactions you create on FamScoop.
• Standard server logs (IP address, user-agent string, timestamps) kept for 30 days for abuse and uptime monitoring.

What we do NOT collect

• Your kids' names, photos, or any identifying information.
• Your precise location (we don't ask for GPS).
• Your contacts, calendar, or device storage.
• Browsing history outside of FamScoop. We don't load third-party advertising trackers.

How we use your data

• To run the community — show you the feed, deliver replies, etc.
• To recommend posts and parents you'd find relevant.
• To enforce our Terms of Service and respond to reports.
• To respond when you email us.

How we share your data

We don't, with one exception: we may share specific information with law enforcement when legally compelled (court order / subpoena) or when we believe it's necessary to prevent imminent harm. We don't share or sell data for advertising, ever.

Anonymous posts

When you post anonymously, your username does not appear next to the post anywhere in the public app. Our database still records the actual author so that abuse can be acted on. Admins see real identities in the moderation queue.

Cookies and storage

We use a single session cookie to keep you signed in. The PWA install prompt uses your browser's local storage to remember that you've seen it. No tracking pixels, no Facebook SDK, no Google Analytics.

Where your data lives

On our servers in the United States. We use bcrypt for passwords and TLS for data in transit.

Children's privacy

FamScoop is for parents and caregivers (18+). We don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. If you believe a minor has created an account, please email hello@famscoop.com and we'll delete it.

Your rights

You can edit your profile, change privacy settings, block users, and delete your account from Settings. To export everything we have on you, email hello@famscoop.com and we'll send it within 30 days.

Changes

Material changes will be announced via the in-app inbox at least 14 days in advance.
